'Risk to public' medic won unfair dismissal claim
A consultant earning around £185,000 a year at Noble's Hospital has won a claim for unfair dismissal - and been awarded £37,000 compensation.
Egyptian-born Dr Boughdady Iskander's contract as a consultant general surgeon specialising in colorectal surgery was terminated after 14 years, with three months notice, last May.
The Department of Health and Social Care says it then sacked him on the grounds of capability after an investigation branded him 'a real risk to members of the public'.
A document summarising the tribunal has been made public.
Since his dismissal, the money the DHSC has needed to pay Dr Boughdady and fill the gap left by his departure have cost taxpayers around half a million pounds.
