Department of Home Affairs wants public feedback
The Department of Home Affairs has launched a consultation for the new National Infrastructure Safety Bill (NISB).
It's looking for public feedback to shape the legislation over the next few months.
NISB sets out to 'strengthen cybersecurity and resilience' across the Isle of Man's national infrastructure.
It includes:
- The roles the Department of Home Affairs and the responsible authorities will play in setting and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards for the National Infrastructure.
- A tiered model to categorise entities as essential or important, or unclassified depending on their criticality and size, to apply requirements proportionately.
- An approach to setting resilience and cyber security standards.
- The creation of a technical authority to monitor, advise and coordinate responses to cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- A proposal to create a structured timeline to notify and report security incidents.
- The proposed enforcement framework.
Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Jane Poole-Wilson MHK said: ‘The National Infrastructure Security Bill will enhance our Island’s cyber-resilience and protect the services our residents rely on daily."
