More than 150 respondents
Responses to a consultation on work permit reform show many are in favour of changes according to Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly.
He says feedback came from a range of sectors, including unions, the Chamber of Commerce and political parties, with more than 150 respondents to the exercise.
The issue divides opinion, with unions opposing relaxation of the system for threatening to erode workers rights, whilst the Chamber wants changes to alleviate what they term a skilled labour shortage.
Mr Skelly says it was important to consult on what is a polarising issue, and more details on the responses will follow soon:
