Ballagawne Road to re-open temporarily if required
The Department of Infrastructure has annouced contingency plans to keep traffic flowing in the south of the Island in the face of today's poor weather.
There's a yellow warning for coastal overtopping around Shore Road, Bayr ny Carrickey (Gansey) and Castletown Promenade for both high tides, at 1.20pm today and 1.49am tomorrow (Sat).
In the event Shore Road, Bay ny Carrickey needs to be closed the Department has arrangements in place to suspend works in order to temporarily “re-open” Ballagawne Road Colby to traffic.
It's pointed out that the road surface on Ballagawne Road is uneven with raised ironwork and steps each end and on the centreline, so traffic is requested to drive with extreme caution.
Gales or severe gales are forecast to affect the Island over the next 36 hours (as of 10.30am Fri)
