Live projectile found in rock pool
Members of a Royal Navy Bomb Squad carried out a controlled explosion on Ramsey beach on Wednesday evening.
It followed the discovery of live ordnance in a rock pool south of Queen's Pier on Ballure shore by a member of the public.
The 12 inch projectile is believed to have been in the water for many years.
The area was protected by Coastguard members until a bomb disposal team arrived from Scotland. . . and it was then moved a few yards to a sandy area where it could be safely disposed of at around 8.15pm
Members of the public are being reminded to always report suspicious objects found on the beach - by ringing 999 and asking for the Coastguard.
