American author imagines the idea in a new children's book
The Isle of Man is being used as the setting of a new children's book which follows the journey of 'Ian' - the only red squirrel on the Island.
The author of 'Red Squirrel Crossing' is Selassie Fox, who also works at NASA, who imagines what life would be like for the animal if they lived here.
He believes the book will educate youngsters about protecting endangered species and introduce them to the Island's environment and biology.
Selassie told Manx Radio why he chose the Isle of Man even though we don't have squirrels here:
You can download the Kindle version of the book for free between 21 and 25 December via Amazon.
