Service hosting a recruitment event this week
People from a range of backgrounds are required to work together to make the Isle of Man Civil Defence Corps a success.
That's the message from the emergency service which is currently recruiting for 'enthusiastic and dedicated' volunteers.
An open evening is being held at the Civil Defence Headquarters, in Tromode, tomorrow (19 February) from 8pm.
Jim MacGregor has been a volunteer for over 20 years and says the key is teamwork:
Richard Allen joined the service in the last year:
Judith Bartram has also been with the service for over two decades.
She says they get called out to all sorts of jobs:
Training is every Wednesday from 8-10pm.
To join you need to:
- Be aged between 18-60
- Have a good level of general fitness
- Undergo an enhanced DBS check
And you can take a sneak peek at the Civil Defence HQ here:
You can hear more from all three volunteers in this episode of Manx Radio Newscast.
