Leader insists value for money paramount
Douglas Council says it wants to 'set the record straight' over fears about the future of Bushy's TT Beer Tent.
The brewery has run the pop-up bar, based on the Bottleneck car park, for the past 20 years.
But boss Martin Brunnschweiler has expressed concern over the Council's upcoming tender process on the site for the next five years.
Now the authority's leader has hit back at his remarks.
In a statement, David Christian said he was 'disappointed' at Mr Brunnschweiler's public expressions of frustration, given their previously 'cordial' working relationship.
He says Douglas Council is upholding its obligation to 'secure value for money' for ratepayers.
And while it's provoked a string of 'ill-informed comments', Mr Christian added he has no intention of furthering the debate.
