It's hoped to become the home of Douglas and District FC
Douglas Council says works to improve the football pitches at Noble's Park are 'underway'.
The local authority says it wants to 'enhance facilities' for both the local community and sports teams in the capital.
It hopes the pitch will become the home of division two side Douglas and District FC, and its combination two team which has contributed £10,000 towards the project.
The council says it is creating 'significant upgrades' aimed at improving playing conditions which includes stripping the existing topsoil as part of an 'enhancement process'.
Councillor Natalie Byron-Teare said:
"We have been liaising with the club since last summer and are pleased that a project to level out and upsize the existing pitch is progressing and being carried out by a local contractor with specialist experience.
"These construction works are an important part of our ongoing investment in sports and other community facilities in Douglas and is a real partnership with the club also making its own contribution towards the scheme."
