Verbal abuse of its staff over the telephone has prompted Douglas Borough Council to take action.
The local authority is set to start recording its telephone conversations from next month, starting with the housing section, where the problem is greatest.
Council Leader David Christian says the system will then be introduced at reception and, a couple of months later, in the parks department and the cleansing section.
He says it will also help establish what was actually said in conversations:
