A-boards prove nuisance in capital
There's a reminder to business owners in Douglas town centre of a ban on A-boards, which comes in at the end of June.
Douglas Borough Council Leader David Christian the advertising fixtures are hazards for those with sight loss or mobility issues.
He says they add 'nothing of value' to the Council's investment in town centre regeneration, and make life more difficult for street cleansing teams.
The Manx Blind Welfare Society's Chief Executive, Ian Cooil, has also welcomed the impending ban.
He says blind and partially sighted people 'face barriers to their independence daily'.
Outdoor cafés will still be entitled to use the boards.
To apply for a licence see 'Pavement Cafés and Highway Licences' at douglas.gov.im.
