Manx Care staff make first appearance
Four Manx Care anaesthetists have appeared in court charged with manslaughter.
43-year-old's Dr Katherine Mary Teare and Dr Alison Jayne Hool appeared alongside 48-year-old Miklos Janos Palotas and 53-year-old Dr Sheila Elizabeth Clarke.
They have been jointly charged with the offence which was allegedly committed on 4 February last year at Noble's Hospital.
A police investigation was started following the death of Douglas man James Joseph Shimmin – the 55-year-old died following an operation.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday the deputy high bailiff confirmed the case would be heard in the Court of General Gaol Delivery – no pleas were entered.
Dr Teare, of Clenagh Road in Sulby, Dr Hool, of Jacks Lane in Ramsey, Mr Palotas, of Mwillun Dooahh Terrace in Braddan and Dr Clarke, of Poachers Pocket in Ballasalla, were granted bail.
They will next appear in court on 27 April.
