39-year-old admits assaulting stranger
A Douglas man who launched an unprovoked assault on Christmas Eve has appeared in court.
James Marcus Doherty, of Thomas Keig Road, admitted assaulting the stranger at Jaks Bar and Smokehouse on 24 December.
The 39-year-old was being escorted from the premises when he pushed the man in the doorway – he’s also accused of grabbing him around the throat; something Doherty denies.
Doherty’s basis of plea was not accepted and a pre-newton hearing review will take place on 7 February – he’s been bailed until that date.
