Gridlock on alternative routes
The main road between Douglas and Peel has re-opened, following a crash this afternoon.
A stretch of the A1 between Crosby Post Office and Ballacraine crossroads was shut shortly before 4pm, while emergency services - including police and fire crews - dealt with the scene.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area, leading to substantial delays on the Archallagan back road - exacerbated by reports of large vehicles blocking the route.
Police have thanked all who worked hard to clear the scene in a little under two hours.
