David Hogg will cycle 300 miles and climb almost 40,000 feet
A Crosby resident will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by crossing the French Alps all while trying to raise £10,000 for Hospice Isle of Man.
In June, David Hogg will cycle 300 miles and climb almost 40,000 feet from Grenoble to Nice on a six speed Brompton folding bike - which is designed as a city commuting bicycle which folds up so it can be carried on a train or bus.
Mr Hogg told Manx Radio he wants to raise funds for Hospice to show his appreciation for the support his family were given by the organisation during the loss of his father-in-law Colin Davies in 2022.
"They were honestly incredible to Colin and our family and so I hope that by the end of this epic journey I will have raised at least £10,000 to give something back to this amazing organisation." - David Hogg
During the five day journey, Mr Hogg will take on some of the biggest climbs in the cycling world like the Alpe d’huez, the Croix de Fer, the I’zoard, the Col de la Bonette and the Galibier.
He spoke to Chanelle Sukhoo about how he's preparing for the challenge:
