Wooden crosses a symbol of Manx culture
As we knock on the door of Summer, some of you may notice the appearance of crosses on doors around the Island- but not a type you might expect.
The Crosh Cuirn is a wooden cross, made from twigs and mountain ash, bound together with sheep's wool that's been gathered from the hedgerows.
Seen as a symbol of Manx culture, it is said to protect the Island's homes from evil spirits on the eve of May - also seen as the end of winter.
