Only remaining Normandy veteran on Island honoured
Dignitaries, war veterans, politicians and members of the public were among a large crowd to gather in Douglas this morning, to commemorate 75 years since the D-Day Normandy landings.
The service was organised by the council, and honoured the Island's only remaining Normandy veteran, 99-year-old Hector Duff.
It took place on the North Quay this morning at 10.15am.
A former lieutenant governor of the Isle of Man, Major General Sir Laurence New, was at the event:
Knives and 'sharp metal objects' found in Douglas Council recycling box
