Ellis Brown Architects propose self-funded commercial development
Plans for a new cruise ship terminal have been proposed for Douglas bay.
It has been put in by Ellis Brown Architects, which says the scheme could be self funded as a commercial development.
Plans include the creation of a new entertainment area, with 1,500 car parking spaces.
It covers a 19.6-acre land reclamation and a new lagoon, which would be permanently filled with water 'for leisure craft'.
The Department of Infrastructure says it has no involvement in the plans, but is 'always interested to hear of any proposals for privately funded marine developments'.
Previously, Peter Bashforth of Cruise Isle of Man said the only way to dramatically increase the number of passengers visiting Manx shores each year is with a change to infrastructure, after the news 2019 was another record-breaking year from the Island.
