The project includes essential maintenance and expansion
Culture Vannin's submitted a planning application for a major redevelopment of its St John's headquarters.
Fairfield House has been its home for a decade.
The charity says it's built a financial reserve over 'many years' to fund the project, but it's also seeking external funding and grants.
The project includes addressing essential maintenance issues and improving energy efficiency, as well as a small extension at the back.
The work will be completed in phases so community benefits can be delivered early and it can stay financially responsible.
Caairliagh of Culture Vannin, Chris Thomas MHK, says: "Our cultural centre was purchased through a generous legacy from Professor Brian Kaneen and this retrofit development is both necessary maintenance and redesign to make the teaching and community facilities more accessible and useful."
