Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly admits losing out to Stockton to host the British Cycling National Road Championships next year is a blow.
This morning, organisers announced the Manx bid had been unsuccessful – although so far there’s been no reason given why the Isle of Man lost out.
Mr Skelly praised the Island’s bid, and says losing the expected influx of competitors, officials and visitors is disappointing.
But he says the department hasn’t calculated how much our tourism sector may have lost out on:
DoI seeking 'fair and sustainable' solution to bus drivers' dispute
IOM taking pre-emptive moves as Middle East conflict continuesÂ
Island gets 'bang for its buck' without a London office, says External Relations director
Two sailings cancelled due to weather forecast
Further offer made to bus drivers on Friday
