Road remains closed for investigations
A cyclist has died following an accident on the Poortown Road this morning (Thurs 5th)
The local man was involved in a collision with a car near to the old quarry entrance around 8.30am this morning.
He was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the car, a local woman, and a passenger in the car were uninjured.
The road between the Highwayman roundabout and Ballig Bridge has now reopened following the accident.
Isle of Man Police are providing the family of the cyclist with support in relation to what they say is a tragic incident, and their thoughts are with them.
Officers say no further comment is being made at this stage on what is an ongoing investigation and are asking members of the public to refrain from any speculation on social media about the causes of this collision.
