Samaritans says help available for those who think they're affected
As the cold, dark winter days close in a growing number of people are affected by a condition known as SAD - or seasonal affective disorder.
Sometimes known as winter depression, it comes and goes in a seasonal pattern.
Symptoms, including persistent low mood, feelings of despair, and lethargy can be severe and have a significant impact on the sufferers day to day activities.
The Samaritans are urging people who believe they may have the condition not to suffer in silence, but to seek help.
