Staff will be trained against further breaches
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says there’ll be more training for staff after an investigation from data protection bosses said the income tax division did breach rules.
Earlier this year, thousands of emails were sent out to promote a Twitter feed – but everybody’s email address was left in plain view.
The Office of the Data Protection Registrar says there were well over two million disclosures of personal information, and made a number of recommendations to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
