The demise of the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure should not overshadow its contribution in helping government save money.
So says Graham Cregeen whose ministerial seat is to be permanently removed, as part of the government's slimming-down exercise.
Reflecting on the DCCL's four year existence, Mr Cregeen says the department has reduced its budget by almost 14.5%, producing savings of £2.2 million.
The DCCL's remit spans public transport, the arts and sport and leisure.
Mr Cregeen says with the Villa-Gaiety's deficit reduced and public transport modernised, the department has achieved much - with little pain to the public.
He says its responsibilities are in good shape for the future:
