
A second rider has died during racing around the Billown circuit today (Thursday).
Paul Thomas, from Ballasalla, died at an incident Osborne's on the back section of the Billown course on the final lap of the Sidecar Championship race this afternoon.
The 58 year old was married with a daughter, and was an experienced sidecar passenger with Nick Houghton.
Organisers of the Southern 100 say he was also a hard-working member of their organisation and a great ambassador for motorcycle road racing.
Mr Thomas was the second man to die in a single day of racing after Mark Madsen-Mygdal lost his life earlier in the day.
