61-year-old had over two times the legal limit of cannabis in his system
A Peel man will be sentenced later this month after pleading guilty to drug driving.
James Russell Rowbottom, of Michael Street, was driving on Dalby Road on 20 April when he saw a police vehicle with its lights on.
The 61-year-old stopped next to them and asked if it was okay to pass.
They could smell cannabis coming from the vehicle and he was subsequently stopped and subjected to a drug wipe test which he failed.
Later tests showed Rowbottom had over two times the legal limit of the Class B substance in his system.
Officers also found 4.6g of cannabis, worth £96, in his jacket.
A social enquiry report will be completed before Rowbottom is sentenced on 12 December; he's been bailed until that date.
