The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has offered its 'sincere and wholehearted apologies' to a Manx ice cream manufacturer.
It's after the fallout from its handling of exhibitors at the Royal Agricultural Show last month.
DEFA had originally promised Gelatory it could sell its products in its tent at the show, despite being aware of an exclusivity agreement between the organisers and Davison's preventing this.
In a lengthy post on social media, Davison's says it received an 'onslaught of hatred' in response to the story.
DEFA has already apologised to Gelatory for the handling of the situation, and has now issued a similar apology to Davison's.
It says it acknowledges and validates the private legal contract established between Davison’s and the Royal Show.
Davison's has thanked the department for its response, saying "while it doesn’t change the outcome/ negativity we received it at least goes a long way in helping to keep things positive between ourselves and the department going into the future".
