Decision due soon on footpaths
A decision will made this week on whether to allow a network of footpaths at the former World War One internment camp at Knockaloe.
Volunteers behind a new visitor centre say their project could attract a large number of internee descendants, keen to see where their relatives were held.
Coordinator Alison Jones claims interest among overseas descendants to visit the Island is growing - but the project depends on being able to offer guided tours around the whole site.
She says the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture originally agreed to the paths - but is now reconsidering, after proposals to develop other enterprises at Knockaloe were scrapped.
The issue will be discussed by DEFA on Wednesday (5 April).
