Delay to airport parking changes

Increases pushed back until June, confirms infrastructure minister

The infrastructure minister says upcoming changes to airport parking will be pushed back until the middle of June.

Changes were due to come in from 1 May, meaning increased charges for longer stays and a reduction in the time motorists can park for free with a disc.

It means people won't be paying more come next week, however the changes are now scheduled to come in from 13 June - after the TT races.

Chris Thomas says a second two-week statutory consultation will be advertised in The Courier:

On the feedback received during the initial consultation period, The Department of Infrastructure told Manx Radio:  'A total of 62 responses were received following the publication of a statutory notice on proposed changes to parking at Isle of Man Airport.'

'The [department] is grateful to all those who took the opportunity to provide feedback, which included comments and positive suggestions on the proposed reduction of free parking to 15 minutes, the long stay option, the level of price rises, lack of barriers and the consultation process itself.'
