Former MHK says it was 'most important piece of social legislation in last administration'
A former MHK who successfully championed the introduction of an ‘opt out’ system for organ donation on the Isle of Man has described the delay in bringing it in as ‘so disappointing’.
Martyn Perkins’s Organ Donation and Human Tissue Bill – known as ‘Daniel’s Law – received Royal Assent from Tynwald in 2021.
But it’s still waiting for secondary legislation to be prepared before it can be fully implemented – in the House of Keys today (30 January) the cabinet office minister will be asked to provide a timeline.
Mr Perkins, who represented Garff, told Manx Radio he believes the delay is due to finances.
