Victim Support Isle of Man reports spike in people seeking advice
A charity working with victims of domestic abuse says the number of people seeking support has doubled since the end of lockdown.
Victim Support Isle of Man saw a 100% increase in demand for its services last month.
The Isle of Man Constabulary recorded 224 domestic violence incidents between March and June - a 21% increase compared to 2019.
Manager of the charity, Paula Gelling, says the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions has allowed more people to reach out:

A spokesperson for the Isle of Man Constabulary said: "The Police continue to support victims of domestic abuse and investigate when at all possible.
"We continue to work with partner agencies and the 3rd sector in providing the best support and means of reporting domestic abuse."
