Pilot project will cost around £20,000
The Department of Home Affairs has submitted a planning application to use solar power for emergency services communications.
It proposes an array of solar panels at Carnane telecoms mast, a pilot project costing around £20,000.
Minister for Justice and Home Affairs, Jane Poole-Wilson, says it’s a positive step for the Department, which should be able to assess the success of the scheme within one year:
