Online exploitation group seen quizzing resident

Detectives from the Isle of Man Constabulary say ‘appropriate enquiries’ are being progressed in connection with a video circulating on social media.

The video – posted by the group The Guardians Ireland on Facebook – shows a man being stopped and questioned about messages allegedly sent to a child.

It’s understood the man resides on the Isle of Man.

The Guardians Ireland describes itself as a non-profit organisation which is ‘helping protect children from online exploitation across Ireland and the United Kingdom’.

In a statement the Isle of Man Constabulary said: “Detectives in Douglas Isle of Man are in contact with colleagues from the Police Service of Northern Ireland and appropriate enquiries are being progressed.

“While police appreciate the public’s willingness to assist the footage is already in our possession and no further help with identification is required.”
