No bidder found in tender process
Tendering to find private-sector day services for older people has failed to find any takers - according to the Department of Health and Social Care.
The provision aims to help older people remain independent as long as possible, learn new skills, and engage in the community.
In recent years, older people's day care services have been run alongside a third party, but the current provider - Age Concern Isle of Man - isn't bidding for the contract.
Contenders say they can't run it within the budget allocated by the DHSC.
As a result, minister Howard Quayle announced the department will run the service itself through the Adult Social Care Directorate from Monday (3 October).
