MUA says it has reduced volume of sewage pumped into Peel bay
The Manx Utilities Authority says it has reduced the volume of sewage being pumped into Peel bay during the daytime.
The move comes after a leak was discovered in the outfall pipe, creating a potential health hazard for bathers.
A diving team will inspect the cracked pipeline on Monday and suggest how it can be repaired.
The MUA says the 'small' breach has not led to large amounts of sewage escaping in shallow water.
However, members of the public using the beach this weekend are urged to be cautious.
MUA chairman Alf Cannan says they await an expert assessment.
