
Infrastructure Minister David Cretney says floods in January taught his department invaluable lessons which meant yesterday’s high tides didn’t cause so many problems.
Shortly before 2pm yesterday afternoon, high tides met walls of one-tonne sandbags put into place by DoI workers, sparing many residents the misery of floods.
Mr Cretney paid tribute to staff who’d been working to strengthen defences in difficult conditions over the past few days.
He says there’s always the opportunity to reflect on flood responses to further improve in future:
