Floods badly hit the town back in 2019
Plans have been unveiled to create new flood defences in Laxey.
The Department of Infrastructure is proposing to build a glass river wall outside the Shore Hotel on Glen Road.
The application comes just over two years after floods devastated the village back on 1 October, 2019.
On that day, 62 properties in the area were damaged after the river burst its banks.
The DOI says during that flooding event, part of the highway wall further up the river collapsed.
It adds any further collapses along that stretch adjacent to properties could be devastating for residents.
If approved, the glass wall would be 60 metres long.
The walls there would also have to be raised and strengthening works carried out on the base of it to provide a concrete toe to reduce undermining.
The proposals are now pending consideration.
