Michelle Haywood says the mud where the boat was trapped has been known about since last year
The Department of Infrastructure is in talks with a contractor in Liverpool for a capital dredge in Douglas Harbour, according to the minister.
The news comes after the Steam Packet's vessel Manxman got stuck as it attempted to dock over the weekend.
A capital dredge would require a bigger vessel that would reduce the mud levels at the harbour.
Michelle Haywood says the build up where the boat was trapped has been known about since last year and a 'confluence' of high pressure is what pushed the tide down further.
She added the DoI is working on it 'at speed' at the moment:
