Department says it wants to know about contingency arrangements during MGP

The Department of Infrastructure says it's working with the Steam Packet Company to assess the impact on passengers and freight following Manxman's withdrawal from service.

The £80 million flagship vessel will be out of action in dry dock until late September whilst 'complex repairs' are carried out.

A spokesperson for the DoI says the department is in 'ongoing discussions' with the company regarding the contingency arrangements the ferry operator has in place.

That includes its plans for maintaining services in the coming weeks, including the forthcoming Manx Grand Prix period.

A statement adds: 'We recognise the importance of reliable sea links for residents, visitors and businesses, and will continue to engage with the Steam Packet as the situation develops.'
