Cost-cutting measure announced as rates increase
Bin collection services in Douglas are set to become fortnightly from April, instead of weekly.
The change has been announced in light of a 3.8 per cent rates increase in the capital.
Douglas Council has blamed the rise of inflation, and 'costs beyond its control' for the rise.
The proposed change to refuse collection is said to save the council around £25,000, and comes as costs at the Energy from Waste Plant also look set to increase.
