UK legislation would be used as 'best practice'
Douglas City Council has confirmed there are no byelaws preventing jet skis from launching off the beach.
It says laws relating to Douglas foreshore expired in 2001 and have since been replaced by general byelaws.
The council says it would refer to a piece of UK legislation, introduced last year, that puts the onus on users for best practice if the situation occurred.
It adds a booklet produced by the harbours division of the Department of Infrastructure which outlines Douglas Bay as a bathing area and no 'powered watercraft' should be used.
