Nominations are open for candidates to stand in a by-election
The leader of Douglas Council says people who are 'keen, interested and community minded' should consider joining the local authority.
Devon Watson believes there are a lot of misconceptions about what the council does and would encourage people who are thinking of standing to contact current councillors for advice.
Douglas Council's Central Ward is one of five areas across the Island with a vacant seat following April's elections, and nomination papers for candidates can be submitted until the 18 of this month.
Councillor Watson says he would like to see 'new ideas' brought forward.
