Costs passed on by government forced decision
Douglas Council has set a rate of 443 pence in the pound, an increase of 3.3 per cent.
Council leader David Christian made the announcement today at the Town Hall.
He says a package of costs passed on to local authorities by central government had forced Council to up the rate.
The leader claims substantial savings were made over the last year but ‘decision out of council control’ have led to the rise.
