RNLI hopes to have temporary replacement in place soon
Douglas RNLI's Mersey class lifeboat is currently out of service after suffering a technical failure.
The charity is hoping to have a temporary replacement vessel in place in the coming weeks.
The RNLI confirmed to Manx Radio that its technical team has been working to find a solution since the vessel suffered a failure.
It says the quickest and most cost-effective solution to restore service in Douglas is to return the station's former lifeboat Ruby Clery back to the Manx capital on a temporary basis whilst repairs on the current lifeboat are undertaken.
Ruby Clery has had to undergo an intensive period of maintenance, and will be lifted back into the water this week ahead of sea trails next week before returning to Douglas.
The RNLI says it's confident there is sufficient lifeboat coverage across the Isle of Man during this period, with cover available from neighbouring stations at Port St Mary and Ramsey.
