Worked while claiming incapacity payment
A Douglas man who claimed more than £1,000 he was not entitled to has admitted four charges of benefit fraud.
Thirty-three-year-old Steven Paul Menton of Loch Promenade, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse today.
The court heard he was employed by a ground works company for a total of five weeks during 2015, while still claiming incapacity benefit.
The defence has asked for confirmation that the figure of £1,258 included Mr Menton's rent being paid for him by government.
The prosecution is to check on this.
Sentencing has been adjourned until 21 June so reports can be prepared.
