27-year-old will be sentenced in October
A Douglas man will be sentenced next month after an early morning street fight.
Billy Robert Sumner, of Empire Terrace, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where he admitted displaying provoking behaviour on Loch Promenade at 1am on 4 September.
The court heard the 27-year-old was seen having a ‘verbal altercation’ with a woman – when another man intervened Sumner lunged towards him and punched him.
He went on to push the woman, and attempt to punch her, before another man intervened leading to punches being thrown between the two men.
The court heard Sumner attacked, or attempted to attack, four men who had tried to diffuse the situation.
A social enquiry report has been requested before he’s sentenced on 17 October; he’s been bailed until that date.
