Thirty-two-year-old turned himself in to police
A Douglas man who defied an alcohol ban has been fined.
Thirty-four-year-old Nicholas Derek Jones of Selborne Road appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.
He pleaded guilty to one count of breaching the court-imposed ban on 10 September.
Prosecution advocate James Robinson told the hearing Jones had been banned from entering licensed premises or buying alcohol for two months in August.
Despite the ban, Jones went to the Ellan Vannin petrol station on Alexander Drive in Douglas shortly before midnight.
He bought three bottles of Desperado, but was spotted by a witness who knew about the ban and called police.
Jones later turned himself in at police headquarters, telling officers he didn’t know the ban meant he couldn’t buy alcohol.
He was fined £150 and ordered to pay £50 towards prosecution costs.
