Douglas man handed combination order following drug possession

He pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and cocaine

A decorator from Douglas has been handed a combination order after admitting having cannabis posted to him.

Thirty-one-year-old Daniel James Glassey of Palace View Terrace appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.

He’d previously pleaded guilty to producing cannabis on 29 September and possessing cannabis and cocaine on 4 October.

Prosecution advocate Rachael Braidwood told the hearing workers at the Port Office alerted police after finding a suspicious parcel.

Inside the package were 15 grammes of cannabis worth around £450.

Officers then raided Glassey’s apartment, finding 0.1 grammes of cocaine and around £20 worth of cannabis.

The court head Glassey used cannabis to help with his mental health, but didn’t know where the cocaine had come from.

Glassey was ordered to do 40 hours of community service and spend 12 months on probation.

He’ll also pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
