Railway will close until end of March
One of the Island's best-known historic pubs is to to be refurbished.
The 149 year old Railway Bar on the Quay in Douglas will close its doors today (Sunday) and re-open to the public at the end of March in readiness for the Summer season.
Owners Heron & Brearley say the pub will undergo an overhaul to encompass live music events.
Steven Taylor, Managing Director of Okells Inns, says the refurbishment marks the start of a series of improvements that the brewery and other bar operators in the Douglas quayside area are embarking on this year.
He's given an assurance that the work will preserve the pub's unique character while incorporating some new 'twists' to the space.
