Design allows for potential rising sea levels, says infrastructure minister
The new sea wall in Douglas has been designed to enable its height to be extended if sea levels rise.
That's from the infrastructure minister who has told Manx Radio the structure has been purposefully future proofed.
The flood defence is currently around 4ft high and will soon run from the war memorial on Harris Promenade to the Empress Hotel, at a cost of £900,000.
Last month, it received retrospective planning permission.
